Still Going Strong

Since I wrote this review on Tom Venuto's book, I am always amazed how many people write me a note and thank me for it. It is still the best book ever written on staying in shape. My last Physical Readiness Test at age 50 (US NAVY) I got an "Excellent" score and have never come in over weight even though I am quite muscular. At the age of 50 I have worked his principals into my life and am healthier than I was when I was 30. Thank you Tom.

Is Tom Venuto's Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle a SCAM?

I have been an "exerciser" for most of my adult life. I enjoy working out and staying in shape. Even as a young boy I idolized incredible athletes like Bruce Jenner and Mr. Universe, the great Arnold Schwarzenegger (I date myself I know).

Recently (last summer) I decided instead of my usual 2 or 3 days a week maintaining I would get serious about not being fat around my middle any more. I was having a hard time keeping the gut off. As an "older" member of the armed forces reserves in my 40's, I also had a need to stay in shape for my job too!

I knew a lot about training, and I also knew there was a lot of misinformation out there. I hate being lied to or being "sold" dishonestly. I knew how to build muscle, and lose weight, I'd done both....but not simultaneously. I'd either get bigger muscles plus gain fat, or I'd lose weight and watch my muscles shrink.

Then a friend turned me on to a book that I believe now is the single most informative book on losing fat and gaining muscle for both women and men I have ever read. I cannot state this strongly enough; Tom Venuto has put together in one book what I believe to be the GOLD STANDARD in no-nonsense fitness books and his is reasonably priced, unlike some out there that can get you for $50 to $150!

When I originally wrote this book review on my own personal blog I was not trying to sell the book for him, just share some of the best information I had seen in one place. I believe in it that much.

Even though Mr. Venuto has the best selling Ebook on the Internet several years running, and leads an extremely busy life he still contacted me personally several times to make sure I was getting paid for my effort!

One of the main reasons I've been recommending Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle since I first read it is because it cuts through all the bulls%*&, all the lies and all the sales hype that permeates the world of fitness. Tom isn't selling some new method or supplement.

If you just want to go on a diet, this book is not for you. If you want to lose a few pounds, this book is not for you. If you are looking for some quick way to get fit, and lose fat that doesn't require any work on your part, this book is not for you. This book is for people who want to do just what the title says, increase lean muscle and burn fat and stay that way....naturally, without the aid of any supplements, but you will have to do the hard work yourself.

I have always believed that bodybuilders (the natural ones) are the world's foremost experts on burning fat. Just look at the picture on this page. Have you ever seen anyone so cut? Too often however, you can't trust most of the magazine models because these amazing athletes are "bought" by supplement companies. Their advise is skewed by the money they get for "endorsing" some product. Venuto endorses NO products and exposes those who do!

He makes no outrageous promises and he's refreshingly honest. There is no magic formula here, it's all about the hard work YOU do, and the way YOU eat. I've never seen so much good information on the subjects of fat burning and muscle building put into one place.

Once I saw what he had learned over his lifetime put in an instructional format, delivered in a common sense way I drank it up, I was sold, so I put it to work and saw a great response from my body in less than 2 months, and at only 4 months I had lost almost 9% body fat 14 pounds!! Even when my weight was not going down, my body fat was...I was gaining lean muscle and losing unhealthy fat..and I still am. Last year I got to the lowest weight I've been in 20 years, and in better athletic shape than I can remember. My Physical Fitness Assessment scores went up 2 levels for my bi-annual test!

If you want a quick fix way to lose a few pounds, don't buy this book. This is for serious people who are fed up with their current shape (round) and want to get into the best shape of their life, cut. I wish I had this information when I was younger before I spent hundreds of dollars on supplements that only added to my body fat. Don't make the same mistake I made.

When I bought Venuto's eBook (a PDF File) I thought it was a bit over priced for a PDF ...until I read it. I had only gotten in a couple of chapters before I knew I had made a good purchase. With all the extras he throws in to the deal, it also helps make it worth your money.

Progress Report

I tried a couple of workout programs in the last few months, just for motivation sake and to change it up. I've keep Venuto's book handy to refer back to the basic truths which actually work. I've also kept working at my exercise plan based in Venuto's recommendations.

I've been able to continue to lose weight and body fat, and increase my scores on my bi-annual physical readiness test for the military. Even through the holiday season I was able to maintain my weight (if you knew my family, you'd know this is a miracle) and BF%.

Venuto's book, still can't be beaten for basic common sense and life skills for health of anything I've tried or read.

Progress - Losing The Fat

Been using Tom Venuto's system now for 6 months. It has been very difficult for only a couple of reasons. One is it is hard work, you must hit the gym regulary. I usually love it but some days you just don't feel like it...I am sure you can relate.

But the harder reason is because my family doesn't cooperate with me watching what I eat. There is junk food everywhere in my house and my wife only serves what I would call a lower fat, lower carb healthy meal 1 or 2 days a I am on my own most of the time.

In spite of that, I have lost 13 pounds and 11 percent body fat. Even when I am NOT doing well on my diet I don't gain weight, and I don't gain fat....I maintain. That is awesome. Sometimes my fat will go down and I'll gain weight, meaning I am putting on pure muscle and losing fat!
